RICHFIELD – Elizabethtown rolled to a 13-1 victory over Burgaw Saturday in the opening round of the North Carolina Dixie Youth Baseball Coach-Pitch State Tournament.
 
Easton Bostic and Jayce Hatcher led off the Elizabethtown first inning with singles, and C. J. McCracken belted a single that scored Bostic. Isaiah Robinson, Tyler Eason, Collin Cole and Inman Carson connected for consecutive singles that scored McCracken, Robinson and Eason and put Elizabethtown ahead 4-0.
 
Claxton Tatum reached base on an error to begin the second inning, and Hunter Wood smacked a single. Bostic walloped a triple that scored Tatum and Wood. Hatcher knocked in Bostic with a single.
 
McCracken’s fielder’s choice forced Hatcher. Brady Marlowe laced a single, and Robinson reached base on an error that scored McCracken and pushed the lead to 8-0.
 
Cole reached base on an error in the third inning, and Braylon Cromartie drove him in with a single. Tatum laced a single, and Conner Hill reached base on an error to load the bases. Wood’s fielder’s choice forced Cromartie at the plate.
 
Bostic smashed another triple that scored Tatum, Hill and Wood. Hatcher’s single delivered Bostic with the thirteenth run.
 
Bostic batted a perfect 3-3 with 2 triples to lead the winners at the plate. Hatcher also finished 3-3 at the plate. McCracken, Marlowe, Robinson, Eason, Cole, Carson, Cromartie, Tatum and Wood contributed one hit each to Elizabethtown’s 15-hit attack.
