RALEIGH – Mr. Clarence Angus Ferguson, 69, of Raleigh, NC, died on Thursday, May 16, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.

Clarence was born in Robeson County to the late John Rogers and Katherine Lee Ferguson, and he grew up in Clarkton, NC. He graduated from Clarkton High School in 1968 where he earned state-wide accolades for basketball, football and baseball. He then attended Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, VA, followed by his time at UNC-Wilmington on a baseball scholarship. He then transferred to his beloved UNC-Chapel Hill where he was a member of the Chi Xi Fraternity and graduated with a degree in Physical Education. He prided himself on being a Tar Heel to his core, and there’s nothing he loved more than watching Carolina football and basketball.

Clarence began his career in the Automobile industry with O’Neal Chrysler in Raleigh and later became General Manager of Capital Lincoln-Mazda of Cary. Over the years, he grew an incredible family across the car business whose love and support he cherished. At the time of his death he was with PayJunction in Raleigh, continuing his decades of success as a salesman.

He is survived by one brother, John Rogers Ferguson Jr., and four children; Mary Elizabeth Ferguson (Maggie) of Fort Knox, KY; David Gray Ferguson (Christina) of Mooresville, NC; Eleanor Russell (Ben) of Sharon, SC, and Isabel Ferguson of Pond Vedra Beach, FL., and Four grandsons, Dalton and Deacon Russell of Sharon, SC, and William and Campbell Ferguson of Mooresville, NC.

Service is scheduled for Sunday, May 19 at 2 p.m. at Clarkton Presbyterian Church, 10433 N. College St., Clarkton.
