Some things I have learned over the years….
Regardless of thoughts related to politics, anything you say, left or right (R or D) will offend someone. So, after 80 years, I have learned it is best to keep my thoughts to myself…why cause a problem over something neither can change. And too often, both have strong feelings, full of facts from someone on TV, who lean left or right, mostly those who re-enforce our biased opinions.
As I have stated before, my problem solvers are Andy Griffith, Gomer Pyle, Barney Fife, Fred Sanford, & Junior Samples (BR549), to mention a few.
Old friends are the best….over the years we add to and take from for any number of reasons….just lose touch.. I actually attempt to reach out several times weekly to someone I once was in touch with on a regular basis….some are pleased, some surprised, some ready to share a positive story about family and others obviously carrying a heavy burden, maybe a family member suffering from some health issues…such was the case recently when my friend shared about his spouse who suffers from COPD…And then there are some you feel you interrupted, whatever they were doing and wish you had not contacted, but they are few and far between.
One of the advantages of growing older is having more time to ‘reach out’.
One day I may cease doing so and clean out a closet, a storage area or the attic, maybe deliver accumulated items to a place or individual where they can be used again….Some items need to go to the county ‘dump.’ Maybe we just leave as is for Rick and John C, let them have the honor. Can hear them now, ‘wonder why in the world mom and dad accumulated all this mess….would have saved us a lot of time and effort….there was no reason to save it, except to punish us one more time’….
But, in the meantime, I will just reminisce with and about old friends I have known, most I still miss….but we will not discuss politics. I think too much of them to do so…and…bet they prefer it that way. I know I do.
A clean house is a sign of a broken computer…
I have as much authority as the Pope, I just don’t have as many people who believe it.
A conclusion is the part where you got tired of thinking.
