Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Weekend has arrived!  Any special plans?

If you were in charge of the government in D.C., N.C. Bladen County or your home town for a day, month or a year….what would be your top priority?  Put your name on the ballot for next election, tell your story and who knows, you may be in the hot seat!

Rep. Walter Jones was laid to rest a few days ago.  He was an interesting individual.  Had the pleasure of meeting him several times in his office in D.C.  He was extremely conservative, did not bow to pressure from anyone.  Was a huge supporter of the military.  He never seemed to be overly impressed by anything or anyone except the folks he represented back home in North Carolina.  He was one of a kind….

Daytona 500, scheduled for 2:30 PM Sunday (tomorrow).  Front row features a couple of young drivers, William Byron and Alex Bowman.  Second row, two tough veterans, Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano.  Two Chevy’s followed by a couple of Fords.  Should make for a good first lap….

We are blessed, two sons, a great daughter-in-law, two grandchildren and one granddaughter-in-law.  The three young ones have birthdays two days apart, February 15th, 17th and 19th.  Remember one, remember all.  Especially good for senior citizens….

Dates for this years Bladen We Care fundraisers have been announced.  The Gala is set for Friday, April 5th, at Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery and features The Legacy Motown Revue.  This years event again sponsored by Smithfield.  Tickets are $100 per couple and for your info, I have some, as do other members of the Board and some volunteers….Always a fun event and proceeds benefit folks going thru difficult times due to health issues, as I like to say, folks falling thru the cracks of our healthcare system.

Date for the Bladen We Care Golf Tournament is Thursday, April 25th, at the Vineyard, White Lake.  More info to follow.  Proceeds benefit same type individuals.  Committee members and individual spends much time on the two events, then assist those in need throughout the year.

Thinking out loud….if you have never had to bail a child out of jail, you are fortunate, blessed.  Count me among the fortunate.

Money can’t buy happiness, but it sure makes misery easier to deal with.

There’s a fine line between cuddling and holding someone down so they can’t get away.

When tempted to fight fire with fire, remember the Fire Department usually uses water.
