One Elizabethtown minister is warning residents to be aware of a potential scam. Rev. Chris Denny said that he recently received two phone calls alerting him to a possible scam.
Denny said that callers described a white female, with freckles and strawberry blonde hair standing between 5’3″-5’6″ going door-to-door in Bladenboro in the Village Drive Apartments area. Denny said that she was asking for donations for the Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church alleging that the church was doing a fundraiser of chicken dinner plates to be delivered on Sunday, April 3.
Denny said callers said the woman wrote down addresses and phone numbers claiming to “take orders” for those who gave money.
Denny said, “One of the callers noted there was a man in the vehicle waiting on the woman and said that 10 different residents
in her Bladenboro neighborhood had given the woman money. ”
Denny said he simply wanted to warn folks to be aware.
