PotHoleMany drivers throughout the county have been encountering a dreaded road hazard lately due to the recent rainfall we have received. Pot holes have begun to appear in Bladen County’s roadways and can become a headache for motorists traveling around the county.

Striking a pothole can potentially damage your automobile or flatten a tire, according to the Car Care Council.

Several roads throughout the county including US 701 South near the NC 87 Bypass, NC 41 East and others have developed the dreaded ruts.

NC Department of Transportation District Engineer Drew Cox said that folks can report pot holes and other road hazards via the NC DOT’s website or by calling NC DOT’s Bladen County office at 910-862-3396.

The Car Care Council says that striking a pothole can do as much damage to your automobile as a low-speed crash.

According to the Car Care Council, some things to look for in determining if striking a pothole has possibly damaged your car include such things as uneven tire wear, pulling to one side or the other when attempting to go straight, bent or damaged tire rims, unusual or excessive bouncing on city streets, loss of steering control, and blisters or bulging on tires.

The Car Care Council recommends having your car’s alignment and suspension checked by a professional at least once per year to ensure proper wheel alignment.
