For this week’s product spotlight we went downtown into the heart of Elizabethtown to Leinwand’s. We spoke with the owner, Ricky Leinwand, who is the third-generation owner of Leinwand’s. Ricky’s grandad, Issac Leinwand, started the business in 1935 after he “immigrated to the United States from Austria in 1907.” They have been in business ever since, making this their 87th year.
Although Leinwand’s has 310 brands in the store, Ricky chose to spotlight his shoe department, more specifically; “HeyDudes” and “XtraTufs”. Ricky says that “HeyDudes” are the hottest shoe in the United States right now. They are extremely comfortable lightweight shoes that have only been around for three years. Ricky states that “They weigh less than half a pound.” He has at least 3,000 pairs in the store and Leinwands currently has the “HeyDudes” on sale for 15% off at the moment. The “Xtratufs” are boots made to “withstand the World’s toughest conditions”. They are waterproof and practical for fishing and hunting. “Xtratufs” are “built for performance and versatility”. Leinwand’s has both shoes in all colors, patterns, and sizes for everyone! From baby sizes all the way to a size 16 men’s shoes… even ladies’ sizes too. Ricky said “Even on the “Xtratuf” boots, we will do those 15% off for the Bladen Online listeners.” What makes these two shoes unique is their different look and their reasonable price.
Also, the annual “Sidewalk Sale” is coming up. It will begin on July first and it will last about a week. Ricky actually started it when he was 18 years old and he got the “Chamber of Commerce” to participate too. At the “Sidewalk Sale” every store in downtown Elizabethtown will have a sidewalk sale. Ricky adds “If you want a bargain come down to downtown Elizabethtown. It’s a great sale inside and outside all the stores.” Leinwand’s is located at 132 West Broad Street, Elizabethtown, NC.
