Open house will be June 26 in Parkton

NC DOTFAYETTEVILLE – The N.C. Department of Transportation is inviting people to review updated design plans for constructing the section of the Fayetteville Outer Loop between Interstate 95 in Robeson County and just south of Camden Road in Cumberland County.

An informal open house will be from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Camp Rockfish, 226 Camp Rockfish Road, which is in Hoke County north of Parkton. There, NCDOT representatives will show updated design mapsfor the project, answer questions and take comments on constructing this 6.1-mile segment of the loop, which will be part of the future Interstate 295.

Construction is scheduled to start by the end of this year and finish by the summer of 2021.

In December, the department awarded a $129.7 million contract to the design-build team of Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Inc., Branch Civil Inc. and STV Engineers Inc. of Wilmington. Such contracts are more efficient by combining the design, preconstruction and construction services in an effort to accelerate the project and identify innovative design alternatives.

The segment to be built is shown as a yellow line on this NCDOT map. Comments on the preliminary design maps will be accepted by phone, email or mail through July 10.

For additional information or to submit comments, contact Michael Penney of the department’s Design-Build Unit at 919-707-6619 or mpenney@ncdot.gov;  or Resident Engineer Mike Parker at 910-619-5689 or jmparkerjr@ncdot.gov.

NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with Disabilities Act for disabled persons who wish to participate in this meeting. Anyone requiring special services should contact Lauren Putnam at lnputnam1@ncdot.gov or 919-707-6072 as soon as possible.
