1. Today is Constitution Day. It was on this date in 1787 that delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the document in Philadelphia. Forty men signed the document. The three men from North Carolina were William Blount, Richard Dobbs Spaight and Hugh Williamson.
2. The East Bladen High Booster Club is having a BBQ plate fundraiser Friday from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Elizabethtown Farmers Market prior to the Eagles football team hosting Wilmington Laney at 7:30 p.m. It’s $8 per plate.
3. What would you do if you got lost and only had a compass? Join a park ranger at Jones Lake State Park on Saturday at 10 a.m. to learn to use a compass. Compasses will be provided. Reserve your spot by call the park office at (910) 588-4550.
