RALEIGH – The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality will host a public meeting on Oct. 4 in Greenville to obtain input on the state’s draft swine waste management system general permit (AWG100000), which nearly all North Carolina hog farms are required to comply with. Information shared at the event will include a summary of a technical work group session held earlier that day. Community feedback obtained through the meeting will assist environmental regulators in preparing a final draft permit which will be published for public review early next year.

The public meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Oct. 4 at East Carolina University’s Murphy Center located at 9999 Pirates Walk, Greenville, N.C. 27858. Speaker registration will begin at 5:30 p.m.

A copy of the draft permit will be available for review no later than Sept. 20 on the Department of Environmental Quality’s website at: https://deq.nc.gov/about/divisions/water-resources/water-quality-regional-operations/afo. For assistance with obtaining a printed copy of the draft permit, please call 919-707-9141.
