BladenOnline.com and Cape Fear Heating & Cooling partnered together with Cape Fear Valley Blood Donor Center to hold a blood drive on Tuesday. It was a great success according to all involved.

“Wow, what a great turn out! The community heard the call for help and fully supported us,” said Dianne Carter, Mobile Recruitment Coordinator, Blood Donor Center.

“We are grateful to be able to use our resources to hold an event that could possibly help save a neighbor’s life ,” Daine Smith with Cape Fear Heating & Cooling, LLC said.

The blood drive had 21 registered donors and collected 18 units of blood.

“We are excited because holding this blood drive has not only lead to the collection we received today, but now Mike Davis with First Bank in Elizabethtown will be holding a blood drive at his location as well,” Charlotte Smith with BladenOnline.com said.

Daine and Charlotte both said they appreciated everyone who came out to support the event and the two companies plan to hold another blood drive next summer.

Rosalind Ross with the Cape Fear Valley Blood Center said there will be another blood drive Thursday, July 18 at Hope Mills Community Center from 4 pm until 7 pm at 5766 Rockfish Road in Hope Mills. She added another blood drive will be held at Bladen County Hospital on August 8 from 1 – 4 p.m.

If you miss the opportunity to donate, place a save the date on the First Bank Blood Drive located at 232 W. Broad Street. The event will be held Wednesday, August 21 starting at 11 am.
