The weather could not have been better for the third concert in the “Summer Sounds” concert series held Wednesday, August 13th. The “Fantastic Shakers” band drew the crowd in and kept them entertained all evening at the Cape Fear Farmer’s Market in Elizabethtown.
Every where you turned you saw smiling faces, dancing feet and everyone having a fantastic time. The energy the remarkable band gave off kept the audience dancing, singing and enjoying the environment all evening long.
The Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, Cape Fear Valley – Bladen County Hospital, and all the other sponsors of this event deserve a big pat on the back for bringing these successful concerts to Bladen County. Dawn Maynard, Chamber Executive Director, also deserves many kudos for all her hard work putting these concerts together.
Maynard was seen at the farmer’s market all day putting everything in it’s place in time for the concert. It all came together perfectly and our community enjoyed a memorable summer evening.
Maynard said, “This may be the best attendance we have had to date at our summer concerts. I think we have around 700 people here.”
The fourth and final concert in the series scheduled for August 27th, may be the biggest concert still to come. Not only will the talented “Black Water Rhythm and Blues” band be playing, but the concert falls on the same day our beloved Elizabethtown Chief of Police, Bobby Kinlaw retires from duty. Maynard has dedicated the concert in Kinlaw’s honor for his many years of service to our community.
Mark your calendars and plan to attend the last “Summer Sounds” concert from 6 pm until 9 pm on the 27th of August. Maynard said, “We have had so much support and so many sponsors for these concerts, I think these concerts will be an annual event.
