A BladenOnline Salute to the Kemp sisters, JaToya and Jazmine Kemp.  Two former East Bladen players had their number 20 uniforms retired in a brief ceremony last night prior to the East Bladen Holiday Classic basketball tournament.  Both of the young ladies went on to star with the UNCP basketball teams.  EB coach Patty Evers, in an earlier comment, said “they were tremendous student-athletes, great teammates with much character.”   S-A-L-U-T-E.

One of the advantages of growing older is, less is expected so more time to spend with special friends and I do.  I enjoy an occasional gathering at a tobacco shelter near Tar Heel, usually a delicious meal…ex.chicken and rice and more education than I can comprehend…..  It is a real treat and I am appreciative of the invitation from the Singletary/Sessoms tobacco barn house of fine food.  More later.

Collected a few more leaves so neighbors would not evict us. They, the leaves, are more scare than a few weeks ago, thank goodness.

A late day meal with family and a trip to the live nativity scene at Bladenboro Baptist Church on South Main Street.  Impressive.

I enjoy when folks want to talk about BladenOnline.  As most know, I sold over a year ago to Charlotte and Daine Smith, I still contribute from time to time and take great pride in what they are doing with Erin Smith as editor and all the helpers still assisting.  It was needed then and now and continues to be the #1 source of Bladen County news in the area, and the numbers remain very, very good according to Google Analytics….and The Best Is Yet To Come.

Hope your Christmas shopping list is shrinking, if not, better pick up the pace.

Today is the first day of winter and the shortest day of the year.  A little more daylight tomorrow.

Basketball tournaments continue tonight at East and West Bladen.  Great entertainment.

The Light Show continues at Lu Mil Vineyard through Wednesday evening.  Enjoy a meal and the Light Show.  I am applying to help Ron and Denise count their money and my commission request is reasonable, at least I think so.  They continue to draw a crowd.

I will honor Christmas in my heart and try to keep it all the year.  Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

Christmas won’t be Christmas without any presents.  Louisa May Alcott, Little Women

The Supreme Court has ruled that they cannot have a nativity scene in Washington, DC.  This wasn’t for any religious reasons.  They couldn’t find three wise men and a virgin.  Jay Leno, The Tonight Show.
