Good to see that Sanderson Farm is hiring in St. Pauls. The $155M chicken processing facility consist of a 180,000 sq.ft. plant that can process 1.25 million birds weekly and sell 500 lbs of deboned poultry annually. If you recall, the plant was originally planned for Cumberland County, but met some local resistance, so they moved a few miles south on I-95 and Robeson County benefits. In fact, Bladen County will benefit as well as another employment opportunity for those looking for a job. Sanderson also has a 65,000 sq.ft. hatchery off Elizabethtown Road in Lumberton.
Oh yes, 100 poultry producers are contracted to provide birds. The plant is open and will employ about 1100 when it is at full production.
