Paul R. Brown Academy is sponsoring a fundraiser today in the Fresh Foods (BO’s) parking lot on Popular Street, in Elizabethtown.  Barbecue pork, slaw, baked beans, roll and dessert for $7, 11 AM until….Cost is $7 per plate, donations are welcomed.  Proceeds will be used to repair the gym (formally Bladen Central) on Martin Luther King Drive in Elizabethtown.  See details elsewhere on BladenOnline.

And, check our Sports Page.  Read about a recent presentation to Lacey Suggs, former East Bladen athlete.  A full scholarship at UNCW to play basketball.  She was a walk-on (late commitment) and earned it the old timey way….hard work that produced results. Pretty nice Christmas gift for her and her parents.

John Clark also has updates on holiday tournaments to be played in the area and other former Bladen County athletes playing at the next level…Good reading!

What is Bladen’s Bloomin’ Agri-Industrial?  A private, not for profit organization that supports efforts by the Bladen County Economic Development Commission to add jobs and tax base to local governments.  BBAI has produced hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars in tax base over the past 20, plus years.  Over the past 10 years or so, Bladen County government has invested a little over $160,000 total, that generates nearly $165,000 annually in taxes, in addition to the jobs.

So, how is the shopping going? A reminder, shop local for bargains galore and avoid the traffic and crowds.
