Thoughts While Shaving

Never a dull moment in the USA.  So much info, obviously some true and much untruth.  Check FactCheck.org when you are searching for facts vs fiction.  May be helpful.

Remember the Southeastern Times?  A Bladen County publication from the 70s, owned and operated by Mike Simmons and Norgie Hester?  It is now a part of BladenOnline.  More info on the way.  Looking forward to the merger!

Winter officially arrives Thursday, December 21, just a few days before Santa.  As you know, it is the day with the least amount of daylight….sunrise at 7:18 AM and sunsets at 5:08 PM.

NFL scores from yesterday’s play.  Lions over the Bears and Chiefs over the Chargers.

Christmas Cantatas throughout the area over the next week or so.

A partial list of those today:

Center Roads Baptist at 11 AM.

Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church, ‘Christ is Born’ at 11 AM and 7:30 PM.

Wesley’s Chapel UMC choir presents ‘Christmas is Real’ at 6 PM today.

I know there are others, not sure of who, where or when.  Check with the church of your choice for more info.

And party time, all around.  The Marvin Daniel Sunday School class of Wesley’s Chapel had a feast and a good time last night, hosted by Emery & Shirley White.

A series of Community Advent Services are being hosted by Elizabethtown area churches.  Next on the calendar is 12 noon Wednesday, Dec. 20 at Trinity UMC, West Broad Street, E-town.  Rev. Edwin Ferguson of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Zion Church will be the speaker.  Services last about 30 minutes.  Can squeeze it in during lunch break.

Shop local!

If you’ve seen one Santa, you’ve seen a mall.

Just a few days left to decide if you’re buying an expensive gift for that special someone or breaking up with them for Christmas.

Be careful when you’re 12, because if you mention one thing you like, your granny will give you a book about that every Christmas for life.
