Christmas 2017 is just hours away!
Today, Christians around the world will be gathering to hear about a babe born in a manger over 2000 years ago.
Christmas season is a perfect time to re-connect with family and friends, in person or by Internet (Facebook) or a Christmas Card.
Remember when merchants offered free wrapping, seldom hear that today, understandable, Amazon and others have changed the landscape. However, some of our local merchants still offer free wrapping.
When I turned my computer on this AM, first thing I saw was Google’s Santa Tracker. What we have heard about over the years, now we can follow a Jolly Old St. Nick, his reindeer and sleigh loaded with goodies, as they circle the universe.
When our boys were young, we were the proud owners of WBLA. There was no automation, well not in our world. Someone had to be there to spin the records, and both of them, along with their dad, had a ‘couple of hours behind the mike’, as did others. Ray Conniff Singers, Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Mills Brothers, Ray Price and Ray Stevens, remember???? Merchants purchased 15 minute blocks of music, and wished all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Christmas music from sun-up to sundown.
For many, Christmas is time with family, TV ‘blaring out’ a sporting event, NFL, College basketball or a football bowl games, maybe Christmas music, and always a feast, unwrapping Christmas gifts, exchanging good wishes. Time to begin thinking about New Year’s Resolutions, maybe a good time to ‘try out’ the new shotgun, waiting patiently for hours in a cool breeze in the ‘middle of no-where’, waiting for a deer.
Unfortunately, for too many, it is just another day to wonder where the next meal is coming from.
Some of our best Christmas’s are those spent with love ones, family and friends and helping others.
