Thoughts While Shaving

Hope your Christmas was great!

This group of Hesters’ had a great time.  A late, delicious lunch in Smithfield with immediate family, opening gifts, hit a homerun in that department.  Then back to Bladen County for another delicious meal with siblings, then home and ‘worn out’, but so many wonderful memories.

For us, that’s about as good as it gets.  Five siblings, all but one attended and she is usually with us, but family issues kept her in western Virginia.  (One of two sons is in the Navy and a short holiday for him made further travel nearly impossible.  They were missed.)

So, how about you?  Hopefully, good as well.  The only sad note, realizing that there are those who are sick, some with a recent death in their family and some strugglin’ and sadly, for too many, Christmas was just another day.

I am already looking forward to next Christmas!

Time to pay property taxes, if you haven’t already. (No complaining, we all received tax notices last July or August, it was due in September, and a penalty will be added in the early days of January, if not paid. That’s a state law)  No whining, no complaining to County Commissioners or the Tax Office.

Also time to begin the process of filing federal taxes.  Moan and groan if you like, it’s a federal law.
