Thoughts While ShavingGrowing old has its advantages, so I am told, still searching.

Enjoy pictures from yesteryear.  Someone sent a photo of a Doug Henderson coached team recently, shared it on our sports page and seeing pictures of old tobacco barns with workers ‘stringin’ tobacco, or other activity that reminds me of my younger days.

United Way of Bladen County is sponsoring an event Saturday at Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery.  St. Patricks Day, a fun day for youth and adults.  It’s 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and all proceeds will benefit United Way activities in Bladen.  Questions or comments should be shared with Christy Sasser.  Her contact info is 910-991-6751 or email Sasser02@srm.org.

Voting is over in Pennsylvania Congressional district pitting Republicans and Democrats in a race that is billed as what could happen this fall.  Millions and millions of dollars spent and a day after the voting, both candidates are still waiting for the official numbers, to close to call early Wednesday morning.  It’s a district won by candidate Trump by nearly 20 percentage points a couple of years ago.  Think of how many peoples’ lives could have been made better if the dollars could have been used to help those in need, improve medical facilities or any number of ways.  Millions spent for ‘braggin’ rights’.  Stay tuned, lawsuits possible, and more dollars spent.

East Bladen Booster Club still has tickets to fundraiser Saturday night.  Contact a booster club member or call the school for details.

Look forward to reading John Clark’s BladenOnline sports articles, especially those about locals playing at the next level.  Good reading.
