thoughts while shavingGrieving the loss of a loved one is not an easy task. And, it seems, the number of families going through the transition from life to death recently has been unusually high … We need to be available to comfort the survivors…

Just kinda had that on my mind recently … None among us are immune from the process…

We must move on … and continue to assist as needed…

Checking weather … Yesterday’s high temp was in the low 80s. Today, sunny with a high near 89. Mostly clear tonight with a low around 61.

Looking ahead, a chance of rain Friday, in fact rain is in our forecast thru Sunday. Friday … A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny with a high near 89 … winds, light and variable … chance of rain is 30% … Temps will be lower Sunday (Church Day) … in the mid 60s…

One final reminder of the Carolina Crossroads Gala this evening at Cape Fear Vineyard. Tickets still available … $75 each … Crossroads deals with broken individuals dealing with alcohol abuse … as well as their families … Many do not understand, but many do … A worthy cause.

Another group of volunteers are working with youngsters … Bladen County Education Foundation is sponsoring their 2nd Annual Spelling Bee … It’s next Tuesday, April 23rd, 6 p.m. at Bladen Community College … Representatives from 13 local public schools will be participating. There is a small admission fee, $5 … to help cover some expenses … Not sure we could function without volunteers … Mark your calendar … Tuesday, April 23 at BCC. Program begins at 6 p.m.

Keep looking for the next start for MacKenzie Gore. The Whiteville native is off to a great start this season as a left-handed pitcher for the Washington Nationals. Last outing was his best to date … as a pro…

I love calling Bladen County home … all my life…
