Thoughts While Shaving

National debt is a huge topic right now … Thought I would do a little research, so I began to dig in the ‘fact file’ and I thought I would share … You could do the same, Google national debt…

A sampling of the 20 countries with the highest debt, according to the sources I discovered, were in relation to the debt to the gross national product (GDP) … my sampling … as of most recent info available … Thru 2020 … Not audited (my guess). Many were so small and did not relate to US…

Libya: 102.94%
Canada: 19.83%
US: 16.6%
United Kingdom: 15.45%
Japan: 13.68%

Could not find China or Russia…

From 1990-2020 the national debt rose to $26.99 trillion (US Dollars)

US national debt in billions…
1990: $3,233 billion
1994: $4,692
1998: $5,526
2002: $6,228
2006: $8,507
2010: $13,562
2014: $17,824
2018: $20,244
2020: $26,945

“The federal debt at the end of the 2018/19 fiscal year (ended September 30, 2019) was $22.7 trillion. The portion that is held by the public was $16.8 trillion. Neither figure includes approximately $2.5 trillion owed to the government. Interest on the debt was $404 billion.

Had a difficult time going from billions to trillions … Don’t take my word for it … Check for yourself … Google US debt…

Only folks interested, so it seems, is the political party out of power … Think there is adequate blame for all…

Not sure how much is ‘D’ and how much is ‘R’ … seems to me both have added frequently…

My info is ‘hot of the press” by the Hester team … Actually, the info was published by Erin Duffin, March 5, 2021.

“Before borrowing money from a friend, decide which you need most.” American Proverb
