Just one week remaining for August 2019 … seem possible to you?????

It has been a quiet hurricane season so far, with just three named storms as of August 22nd – the fewest since 2014. However, the typical peak of the season in mid-September is still a few weeks away. According to the North Carolina Climate Office, sea surface temperatures are above normal across the Atlantic, which favors storm development. Later this fall, it appears less likely that El Nino conditions will redevelop. This could also increase tropical activity.

Tropical Storm Dorian formed in the Atlantic Ocean on Saturday afternoon and is forecast to become a hurricane by Tuesday. It is on a general path toward Florida. It is far too soon to determine its impact on any part of the state.

Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, but 95 percent of storms are produced during the 2 1/2 months of its peak, from mid-August to late October … all quotes from the National Weather Service….

Congratulations to East Bladen High School alum Donna Gooden Payne. The former UNCP and current ECU General Council is moving north. She was recently named University Vice President and General Counsel at The University of Rochester, NY. (see article on our news page)

Now I know a NY attorney, actually my fondest memories of her was when, as a teenager, she rode her horse on Happy Valley Road, near Elizabethtown.

You have to learn the rules of the game, and then you have to play better than others.

No matter how your feel, Get up, Dress up, Show up and Never give up.
