Who would have ever dreamed high school football would be played in February, as well as other fall sports? All related to COVID-19 … The new schedule released Wednesday by the NC High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA). Just thinking out loud, that will depend on how well we (all of us) are coping with the coronavirus pandemic. Lots of ifs, ands and buts. But, it’s a plan, hope it works.

Speaking of sports, too much time, scrolling thru various websites, discovered a Lou Holtz speech made after his tenure as football coach at Notre Dame. Searched the web this AM, thought I would like to listen to it again … short, maybe 10 to 12 minutes. A powerful speech on ‘3 Rules to a Less Complicated Life’ … May not be the title … but a great short lesson about life … Incidentally, his bride of many years died recently, Beth suffered from throat cancer, died in June of this year. She was 83 years old.

Lou Holtz spoke at an East Bladen Sports Banquet many years ago … while he was football coach at NC State University (1972-75) … Great speaker/entertainer … most recently a sportscaster/analyst.

Today’s weather forecast, ’bout like yesterday. Partly sunny, with a high near 90, a 50% chance of rain, thunderstorms … The National Weather Service at the Curt Brown Airport recorded less than a tenth of an inch of rain, yesterday. More of the same for the next week or so.

“I follow three rules: Do the right thing, do the best you can, and always show people you care.” Lou Holtz

“I can’t believe that God put us on this earth to be ordinary.” Lou Holtz

“Remember … Every day, some ordinary person does something extraordinary. Today, it’s your turn.” Lou Holtz
