Received my Bladen County tax notice a few days ago. I am reminded that if I pay my taxes prior to the end of August, I receive a whopping 1% discount. Taxes are due September 1, 2019, however, no penalty ’til January 5, 2020. Not much incentive to pay up early, but that’s the law in North Carolina

Did you see the rainbow last evening? Saw several post on social media. … It was beautiful.

We are in the process of electing a Congressman to represent a portion of Bladen County and numerous other counties, west to Mecklenburg? How many of these do you remember?

Bayard Clark, F. Ertel Carlyle, Alton A. Lennon, David Henderson, Charlie Whitley, Martin Lancaster, Charlie Rose, Eva Clayton, Mike McIntyre, Robert Pittinger, David Rouzer, all represented all or a portion of Bladen, I may have missed one or two. … Best I can tell, the only one with local ties was Bayard Clark (1929-49). He was a Fayetteville attorney, who was a Bladen native. I stand to be corrected…

Bladen County students, faculty and administrators are in the process of returning to school for the 2019-20 school year. Do you remember your first grade teacher (no kindergarten in the 40’s and 50’s)? I think I remember, Ms. Knott at Bladenboro Primary. … What I do recall was a nap after lunch. My memory is growing dim … think we placed some type paper on the oily, hard floor and were told to be quiet and take a nap. I was not that smart, but didn’t think I was going to school to take a nap, however at my age today, anytime seems like a good time for a nap.

World peace begins with inner peace.

Every bad situation will have something positive. Even a dead clock shows correct time twice a day.
