The 8th Annual Desmond Bryant Football Camp is set for Saturday, August 24 at East Bladen High School. It’s free, for ages 6 to 18. Desmond Bryant is an East Bladen grad, a Harvard University grad and a former NFL player with the Oakland Raiders and Cleveland Browns. Registration at 8 a.m. Camp from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The last of the Summer Sounds Free Concerts is planned for Thursday (tomorrow) at Cape Fear Farmers Market from 6 to 9 p.m. Jim Quick and Coastline Band will provide the music.

Looking ahead, Brian Free and Assurance will headline a fundraising event for Southeastern Carolina Crossroads, Saturday, September 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Elizabethtown Middle School Gym. Lumber River Qt. and Cedron’s Bridge will also be on the program. It will be an evening of Gospel Music. Make plans to attend. Proceeds benefit Southeastern Carolina Crossroads. Donations are welcomed.

One more … high school football begins Friday evening. … Wallace Rose Hill at East Bladen and South Brunswick at West Bladen.
