Thoughts While ShavingAttended the only party, other than the immediate family get-to-gether, last evening, had a very good time, back home early…

Remember a special Christmas season that left a lasting impression? Guess mine would be when boys were very young and related to family … Tonight, if all goes as planned, the boys will be here … didn’t plan it, just happened … Thankful…

I enjoy the Christmas tunes that have lasted a lifetime … Many from my younger days at home…

Somewhere I saw a list of year-end top country songs over the years … #1 on this list was ‘I Walk the Line’, a Johnny Cash hit … definitely not a song we would sing at church at Christmas time.

One of my most memorable gifts was a ‘used’ girls bike with a basket … My Santa gift … I had some trouble “wrapping my thoughts” about why a used girls bike … I was the oldest of six, it was not expensive … but an inexpensive bike that I could ride a mile or so to the nearest country store, purchase a six-pack of soft drinks for a quarter, place them in the basket and be back home in a short time … I wondered how Santa managed bringing it from the North Pole … Most likely it was the only bike he had that year … ‘Bout wore it out going to Uncle Fred’s store near Zion Hill Baptist Church, a couple of miles north of Bladenboro … Coke man should have been happy … or was it Pepsi? They came in a bigger bottle and still a six pack for a quarter…

Jumpin’ all over the landscape … sorry … just some “thoughts” from yesteryear…

Times have changed, but Christmas is special every year…

“Christmas gives us the opportunity to pause and reflect on the important things around us.” David Cameron

“At Christmas, all roads lead home.”

“The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other.”
