As usual, first things first, need to check the weather, past, present and future.
Yesterday’s high temp was 64 degrees, a beautiful day … Overnight windy, low temp in the low 50s … Weather will be changing … based on the forecast…
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly after 4 p.m. today, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m. High near 64, windy, gusts in the low 20 mph range … 80% chance of precipitation.
Tonight, a chance of showers before 7 p.m. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming clear with a low around 42 and a 30% chance of precipitation. Looking forward to Saturday, a slight chance of showers, low near 61 and windy.
Had a few calls related to the status of interim county manager! Don’t know … Saw announcement immediately after departure of former county manager, who retired, that an interim was being appointed and that the NC Association of County Commissioners would be leading the effort … Now understand, that will not happen … Current interim is the Board Chair … Only know what I read and hear … Everyone has a right to change their minds, including a majority of the board, our distinguished leaders … Been there and done that…
I appreciate your comments on “My Thoughts”…
Love to step back … see the progress in the area … Gone are Bladenboro Cotton Mills, Greene Brothers and more in Elizabethtown and many retail merchants all across the “Mother” county … But much remains, a good place to live work and play. The companies mentioned provided decent jobs for area residents a long time ago.
Sometimes we forget how it was years ago … especially in rural Bladen … we had kerosene lamps to see by, wood and coal to heat with … I remember, that was where I have spent most of my life … and still reside in rural Bladen … Thanks to companies like Four County and Star TMC, updates continue to occur and more are on the way … especially for underserved areas of the county … especially fiber … Much of Bladen is now served with fiber by Star and commercial companies, but not all. Federal funding has been assured for most of the rural areas … Funds designated, but not yet released … My hope and prayer is most, if not all, of the ‘Mother County’ will be served in the near future … hopefully over the next 12 months … Not a guarantee, but a goal … Four County does a great job of providing electricity throughout the area … I understand … I have ‘less’ patience than needed … My compliments for Star and Four County are extended to the commercial providers as well … We need all…
Looking forward to warmer weather and see our lakes, creeks and rivers come alive…
