thoughts while shavingAnother 92-plus day was recorded yesterday … at the local weather station … and no rain, locally … as of midnight, Wednesday…

Today’s (Thursday) forecast … A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 3 p.m. High near 93 … heat index values as high as 104 … Chance of rain … 80%.

Tonight … Showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m., then showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall … Low temp around 72 … and an 80% chance of rain.

Friday … Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy with a high near 88 … 70% chance of precipitation … Same type weather forecast thru the weekend and into next week…

The Republican convention winding down … VP candidate was speaker at last night’s event in Milwaukee.

On the Democratic side of the news … Late report indicated President Joe Biden tested positive for COVID … Not good for anyone … and especially for an 80-plus year old on a tight schedule … and an upcoming deadline … for re-election…

Interesting note … According to an article in the Border Belt newspaper, serving Bladen, Columbus, Robeson and Scotland counties … Bladen and Columbus lost population while Robeson and Scotland gained … over a 3 year time period … Bladen -148 … Columbus lost 375 … Scotland gained 86 over the same time frame, while Robeson added 1,056. Spent some time recently reviewing old personal files … destroying some, organizing others for the humpteenth time…

Ever spend some “down time” thinking about people you admire … Bill Gaither is among my leaders … and some things I still do not understand … Like, why did we always have to make new tobacco plant beds in new ground? Actually a mute point today … Very little of the golden weed in the area … a huge change over the years…
