Thoughts While ShavingThanks for your recent comment on “Thoughts” … I enjoy…

News worth sharing … Former Bladen County School Administrator hired to lead Wake County Schools. Robert Taylor served as Bladen County’s top school administrator for several years prior to his time at the state level … where he served as the deputy state superintendent of public instruction in 2021 and 2022. He was superintendent of Bladen County Schools prior to his time in the state position, as well as in the Clinton School system. He is a native of Mississippi. Pretty good leap from a county of 27,000, give or take a few, to Wake County with 160,000 students … And, a pretty good increase in salary as well … Wake salary reported to be $326,993.

Vote was 8-1 to hire … One reportedly had issues with salary…

At least 2 former Bladen County students are preparing or already playing more football at the pro level … Larrell Murchison, East Bladen-NC State alum, preparing with LA Rams. Former West Bladen-Auburn pro lineman, Brandon Council, playing in the Canadian League … They make us proud. Both big and talented.

Sure would be good to get a break in the hot weather … but none in sight…

In addition to the hot weather, now smoke, supposedly drifting south from Canadian fires…

Weather today … A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 95 … heat values in the 103 range. Windy, gusts as high as 16 mph.

Tonight, a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms … low around 74. Thursday … more of the same … High near 94, heat values in the 106 range and a 40% chance of rain.

High temps Friday near 97 … sure could use a little good weather news … but none in the foreseeable future…

One lottery last night … No winner in Mega Millions drawing … now worth in excess of a billion dollars … next drawing is Friday.

The next PowerBall drawing is tonight … Estimated jackpot is $1 billion … Someone could go from ‘flat broke’ to a billionaire … overnight … Chance of losing your last dollar is better than winning anything … Something to think about.

It’s been a while since big winners in either…

“I’m so unlucky that if I bought a cemetery people would stop dying.” Rodney Dangerfield

“The lottery is just like a job. You can pay and pay, and never get ahead.” Al Capone

“I won the lottery, but I forgot to play.” Mitch Hedberg
