Next major leaguer from our area may be an umpire. Macon Hammond, Clarkton native, is umpiring at the 2A minor league level, after a short time in pro baseball … He will be umpiring in Seattle Monday, July 10 in the MLB Futures Game and the Home Run Derby. If you have kept up with his career, no one should be surprised … He and his bride currently reside in the Greenville, NC area.
