The 2023 Bladen We Care Annual Fundraiser is over and a HUGE success … thanks to the Campbell family and their employees … Maybe the best ever, despite sickness related to some board members … and it was away, near Wallace, for good reasons, (been there before) … The show must go on, and it did … a roaring success. (My Thoughts)
The Campbell Oil family and a goodly number of their staff had filled the goody bags, had them on the nearly 100 carts, food was available, provided by vendors, when most arrived … The usual check-in was handled by “pros” that have done it for years…
Hayes Petteway (Board member) and I arrived, not sure what to expect … Most of the pre-tee-off issues had been taken care of, or so it seemed…
Bottom line, maybe the most successful Bladen We Care fundraiser … e-v-e-r…
I could not remember what time I was to pick up Hayes … typed my “Thoughts”, thought I sent them (discovered I did not), arrived an hour early at his home … It was that type of day … but others ‘stepped up’ … Great job … Oh, I eased out his driveway, returned home and later arrived on time.
Golfing results upcoming in the next few hours/days … incidentally, a large local contingent played, in addition to vendors … successful in every way possible … Among the golfers was the President of Mount Olive College … and the usual good showing of Bladen County locals…
Despite … low threatening clouds … the tournament play began on time … The real winners … recipients who have healthcare needs, nursing students in need of financial support to become providers … and other type issues … The proceeds will be used for worthy causes…
A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 a.m. today, then showers and the possibility of more storms after 2 p.m. High today near 81 … windy and a 90% chance of rain. A 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms with a low near 70 tonight. Friday, an 80% chance of rain, high near 80.
