Thoughts While Shaving

Thoughts While ShavingCrops need a shower of rain, some corn beginning to show stress at a critical time. A 50% chance of rain is in the forecast for Friday, 70% Friday night and 30% on Saturday. Of course, those possibilities can change. Heat index values in the range of 100 today and tomorrow.

I love positive thoughts. Today, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Steve Covey:
1) Be proactive,
2) Begin with the end in mind,
3) Put first things first,
4) Think win-win,
5) Seek first to understand, then to be understood,
6) Synergize,
7) Sharpen the saw.

To make sure I understood the meaning of ‘synergize’, Webster defines as creative cooperation. One other explanation was, “It is teamwork, open-mindedness, and the adventure of finding new solutions to old problems……It’s a process….”

Attended another very informal “educational meeting” in the Tar Heel area yesterday. Enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Leroy Adams, preceded and followed by educational sessions by experts in their field, all legal and observed by high sheriff of Bladen County. It really is a fun time with senior citizens from across the area.

Advice for friends:

Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

It’s not the fall that kills you: it’s the sudden stop at the end.

If we have enough gun control, we must need idiot control.

When in doubt, mumble.
