Thoughts While ShavingMarch Madness participants have been selected, including several North Carolina teams … NCAA, men’s and ladies teams and NIT … I will not attempt to name them … One that was not selected for NCAA play and declined an NIT offer is making just as much news as those selected. Coach Hubert Davis made the announcement, UNC declined an NIT bid and were closing up shop for this year. UNC was a preseason favorite for ACC and NCAA play.

Congratulations to Patty Evers, long time Bladen County ladies basketball coach and administrator. She has been the East Bladen girls basketball coach for many years and has held other positions as well … She was recently awarded The John Wooden Legacy Award for 2021 … She is so deserving…

We had nearly an inch of slow drizzle, earth soaking rainfall over the past 24 to 36 hours at the local weather station at the Curt Brown airport … That, plus the nearly half inch late last week, makes nearly an inch and a half recently … and there was no run-off … slow, drizzle, just what was needed … but not all we need.

Not much rain expected this week … but lots of sunshine and wind…

Today, cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 62. Mostly clear tonight, with a low around 34 and windy, gusts as high as 16 mph. Tuesday, sunny, with a high near 55 … more wind, gusting as high as 23 mph … Next best chance for more rain is Friday and Friday night … in the 50% range.

Plantin’ time is nearing for farmers and gardeners…

“Those who say it can’t be done are usually interrupted by others doing it.”

“Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced.”

“Once you realize that you can do something, it would be difficult to live with yourself if you didn’t do it.”
