Thoughts While ShavingThanksgiving is now in the rearview mirror for 2022, Christmas is straight ahead…

Remember Brandon Council, the huge former West Bladen offensive lineman? … He is now, or will soon be, an Auburn grad, hopefully headed to the NFL. He has had a busy year at Auburn, started every game this season, played all 5 offensive lineman positions. His college career began at Akron, later transferred to Auburn and he was recently quoted as saying “Auburn has given me everything I ever dreamed of. I’m forever indebted to Auburn University.” The 6-4, 329 lbs offensive lineman will be playing in an all-star game later this year and hopefully on Sunday next year in the NFL…

NFL score from last night … Steelers 24 – Colts 17. Both teams have won 4 games this year and lost 7.

I hope the individual accused of beating a senior citizen in Bladenboro is arrested soon. Second person beaten, robbed and left along the way in the area over the past few weeks … Can you believe? And, they live among us…

My leaf producing tree is still producing … litter. Best thing that has happened recently … many of the leaves have been blown away … Hopefully into the woods and not in nearby yards…

Changing the conversation … Anyone around still doing hog-killings? Big deal when I was a youngster … Kill the hog, hang it up and carve it … and share with neighbors and store other portions in the “smoke house” … Come to think of it, I haven’t seen a smoke house in many years. Hams, shoulders, stuffed sausage and hog-head cheese … Sorry, doesn’t sound good does it? … But my senior citizen friends, raised in the country as I was, should be able to tell all about it.

Sunny today, high near 70 degrees. Tonight, patchy fog after 1 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, low around 52. Wednesday, a 70% chance of rain and gust in the 22 mph range…

“One minute of patience, ten years of peace.” Greek Proverb

“I consider it the best part of an education to have been born and brought up in the country.” Amos Bronson Alcott

“The country is lyric, the town dramatic. When mingled, they make the perfect musical drama.” Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
