thoughts while shavingHigh temp yesterday was a balmy 77 degrees and windy … Gusts as high as 17 mph around 1 p.m. … remaining tree leaves were having trouble holding on … many came down, still more ‘hanging on’ at our place…

Forecast for this Sunday (Church Day) … Sunny with a high near 65, clear tonight with a low around 39 … Looking ahead to Monday, mostly sunny with a high near 66 and windy, gusts as high as 15 mph.

A pretty good chance of rain Monday night thru Wednesday … as high as 80% Tuesday night, 60% Wednesday…

Looking ahead to Thanksgiving Day … Thursday … Mostly sunny with a high near 61 … Perfect weather for a special day…

Kinda of a peaceful time of year in this area … Crops are mostly in, lakes not overly busy, fall sports wrapping up and winter sports moving to the forefront…

On the national political scene … the largest number of US lawmakers announcing their retirement continues to grow … This month alone, nine members of the House and Senate have said they will not seek re-election, the second most in any single month going back to 2011, and there’s still two weeks left in November … A total of 34 members of Congress have already announced they’re not running again, and that doesn’t count those who plan to quit early or have already resigned … Hope new faces improve the situation…

Bladen County Solid Waste hours of operation for Thursday, November 23 & Friday, November 24 – Thanksgiving … All convenience sites will be closed Thursday in observance of the holiday. Normal operation hours resume Friday. The Transfer Station will be closed both days in observance of the holiday. Normal operations resume Monday, November 27.
