I think we broke another weather related record yesterday. High temp at the Curtis Brown Airport was 94 degrees, recorded between 3:15 p.m. and 4 p.m. Previous high on the same date was 90 degrees (1986). High at 10 a.m. Monday was 82 degrees, at noon it was 88 degrees.

Can’t image having twins in our family and can’t imagine having twin boys who both play college football at different universities. Farrell Murchison plays at Winston Salem State and Larrell at NC State. Farrell is a running back, Larrell a defensive lineman and both very talented young men. Wonder how mom and dad decides who is going where, when? Larrell had his best game yet for NC State on Saturday, at Florida State (in a losing effort). Farrell, still improving after a bout with cancer that sidelined him for a year, scored a TD for Winston Salem State. Exciting times at the Murchison household. Both young men played high school ball at East Bladen.

Saw a short video of a golfer attempting to hit a shot from what appeared to be a ‘mushy area’ near a body of water. He hit another bad shot, tossed his club in the fairway and jumped in the water. I had that feeling often when I was attempting to play. Now, I settle for watching others on TV.

Elizabethtown-White Lake Chamber monthly meeting scheduled for a week from today, Tuesday, October 8.

A reminder of the NC Grape Festival, Saturday, October 12 … 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lu Mil Vineyard. The Grape Stomp is a must do.

Jobs are available in Bladen County. Check with the local NC Employment Security office, next door to Elizabethtown Primary School.
