There was a huge turnout at the Job Fair at Bladen Community College, last evening. Bladen and Columbus counties are attempting to locate a new company. Both counties were well represented. Company should be announcing their choice soon. Early reports are that first hires could be as early as mid-November.

Want to know what North Carolina Southeast does from their Elizabethtown location? They search nationwide for Economic Development prospects that will provide jobs in the area. The fact that this company is making plans to locate in southeastern North Carolina is due to the efforts of North Carolina’s Southeast. They represent nearly 20 counties from Anson to the sea, from South Carolina to Wayne County. Their membership includes public and private entities in the counties they serve.

Trick or Treat. … Little hobgoblins will be traveling throughout the area on Halloween for treats. Turn your light on and welcome the little ones … and their parents and guardians.

Looking ahead, the annual meeting of Star Telephone Membership Corporation is set for Saturday, November 9th at the Sampson Agri-Center. Entertainment begins at 9:25 a.m., a return of the Starlights. The business meeting begins at 10 a.m., entertainment by The Dove Brothers, election of officers. It’s the 60th annual meeting and all attendees, member/owners will be provided a meal.

Early voting continues in municipal elections across the county. Election is Tuesday, November 5th.

And, a reminder to change your clocks, watches, etc., Saturday before you go to bed … so you will be to church on time Sunday.

Who says nothing is happening in Bladen?

Get ready to have your auto clock display the wrong time for the next few months because you don’t want to break out the instruction manual.
