Thoughts While ShavingA quick look back before moving on. Hurricane Idelia has departed the area… Locally, the National Weather Service recorded between 5 and 6 inches of rain, and the highest wind gust recorded was 39 mph, occurring between 3:45 and 5 p.m. Thursday at the same location.  Roadways in the county appear to be in pretty good condition, there could be some washouts and standing water. All in all, there could have been more damage…

Hopefully, we can move on… September has arrived… Labor Day weekend, enjoy…

Sunny today, with a high temp near 82. Mostly clear tonight, low around 59. Saturday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 83.

Temps in the 90s beginning Monday, Labor Day, and continuing through at least Thursday.

A reminder from Bladen County Solid Waste Service… All convenience sites will operate on their normal schedule from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.  However, the Transfer Station will be closed on Monday, resuming a normal schedule on Tuesday, September 5th.

Bladen County taxes are due… no penalty for late pay until early January…

NC State football play for the 2023 season is off to a good start. Wolfpack 24 – UConn 14.  New QB Brennan Armstrong played well.

Wake Forest also posted a win, defeating Elon… 37-12.

UNC vs. South Carolina in Charlotte on Saturday. Clemson at Duke, Monday, 8 p.m. game.

East Carolina Pirates travel to Michigan for a Saturday game, kick off at 12 noon. Telecast on Peacock…

Carolina Panthers begin regular season play on Saturday, September 10, at Atlanta.  8:00 PM game at Mercedes Benz Stadium.

Local golfers enjoy the week and weekend at Vineyard Golf near White Lake… some say the best condition ever.

NASCAR is back in Darlington for Labor Day racing. Cup series race Sunday, 3 p.m.

PGA is on pause following the Championship match…
