Spread the love

Think of the lyrics from a gospel song … ‘God sees the storm from the other side’ … With so much turmoil in our world today, think I would like to take a peek at how it all ends up.

Every now and then, I check the US Debt Clock … not a pretty sight. Early today, total debt of the US was nearing $22,625,000,000,000. Interest on the debt was $382,230,000,000. Population of US was 329,715,439. Lobbying money spent … $3,629,537,100. US workforce totaled just over 158,000,000 and official unemployed was 6,033,000. One more number … total debt per citizen, $224,113. Scary, but no one in authority talks about the situation.

Out of sight, out of mind …

So much to do in Bladen this weekend … take your pick and enjoy.

Thinking recently about what we never hear today … stacking peanuts, pickin’ cotton, suckerin’ tobacco, grading tobacco, chicken coups, roasting hotdogs and marshmallows at a church social, I recall 5th Sunday Night Singings rotating around churches in the county. And, there were All Night Gospel Singings in Lumberton from time to time, featuring the Statesmen Quartet, Blackwood Brothers, The Stamps, and many more.

I realize I have mentioned a couple of times, but being a country music fan, I have really enjoyed the recent country music series on PBS. Continues at 8 p.m. this evening. … I remember my early years as a DJ at WBLA, playing tunes by Hank Snow, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Charlie Daniels and so many more. … The PBS show series covers all.

Enjoy this Thursday…

Laugh alone and the world thinks you’re an idiot.

Where there’s a will, there are five hundred relatives.
