Incumbent Dennis R. Edwards filed this week for re-election to one of three county-wide seats on the Bladen County Board of Education while two more candidates filed for a seat representing District 2.

Edwards is the lone Republican thus far running for a county-wide seat. Three Democrats — incumbents Cory Singletary and Vince Rozier along with Sophia Brixey — filed earlier.

Ben Lee and Mackie Singletary filed this week for a Board of Education seat representing District 2. The pair are joined by Berry Lewis in the race. All three candidates are Republicans.

Filing continues until noon Friday at the Bladen County Board of Elections Office, 301 South Cypress Street, Elizabethtown. The primary, if needed, is scheduled May 17 and the general election is set for Nov. 8.
