Elizabethtown, N.C. – June 19, 2024 – The Town of Elizabethtown is excited to announce the inaugural Smithfield Cup, a thrilling BBQ festival set to take place on Sunday, October 13th, in historic Elizabethtown. This event promises to be a showdown of BBQ supremacy, featuring pitmaster teams from North Carolina and South Carolina.
Hosted at the award-winning Cape Fear Distillery, the Smithfield Cup will offer attendees a unique experience of barbecue sampling with various Smithfield pork products. Participating teams will vie for the coveted People’s Choice Award and the prestigious Smithfield Cup trophy, which will be displayed in the winning team’s respective state for the year.
In addition to the barbecue competition, the festival will feature samplings of BBQ sauces and rubs, live entertainment, displays of vintage cars, and opportunities for liquor and beer sampling. Families can enjoy a dedicated kids’ zone and more surprises throughout the day.
