On March 1st, 2022, Deputies with the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office Community Impact Team were conducting a Traffic Checking Station in the Bladenboro area. Deputies observed a vehicle turn around abruptly just prior to the checking station and fled the checking station at a high rate of speed.

According to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle but the vehicle continued to flee discarding items out of the window. Deputies were able to get the vehicle stopped and the driver, Malique McDowell was apprehended without incident. According to the report, Deputies recovered Cocaine, Crack Cocaine, and Marijuana that was discarded from the fleeing vehicle.

Malique McDowell was charged with the following:
Felony Flee/Elude Arrest With Motor Vehicle (1 count)
Possess With Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance (1 count)
Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance (1 count)
Simple Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance ( 1 count )
Possess Drug Paraphernalia ( 1 count )

McDowell received a $15,000 dollar secure bond.

All suspects and persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
