Honor Flight of the Cape Fear Area organizes trips for local United States War Veterans to visit the nation’s capital in honor of their service.

Oliver Gause and Amos Bedsole were two Bladen County Veterans selected to attend this year’s Honor Flight Trip to Washington D.C. for their service in the Vietnam War. Linda Smith, with The Battle of Elizabethtown, Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), explained their chapter sponsored Jamie Gause to accompany his dad, Oliver Gause, on the trip.

The Veterans and their guests toured memorials commemorating United States Veterans’ service.

Smith said, “We participated in the Honor Flight this year to honor Veterans, especially those who fought in the Vietnam War.”

Friends and family were lined up at the Wilmington International Airport to welcome the Veterans home. Gause told friends, “I would not have traded this for anything in the world!”

With big thank yous, Honor Flight of the Cape Fear Area added on their social sites, “Our honor flight hub is fortunate to have supporters near and far! … Our trips would not be possible without the generous contributions of our sponsors and other community members!”
