ECAC’s Leadership Summit For Families of Color

Scheduled for Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, this free event at UNC Pembroke offers a platform for honest conversations and education tailored to support families of color. This summit is designed for parents and caregivers of children with disabilities or special health care needs, ages birth to 26, this summit seeks to empower individuals to effect positive change within systems affecting their families. Maternal Child Health Focus Groups

A series of virtual focus groups will be conducted to gather insights for a research study concerning various aspects of healthcare access and family well-being. These focus groups, tailored for individuals aged 18 or older who provide support for children aged 0-5, will cover topics such as healthcare access, transportation needs, housing security, and more. Comments Needed for Proposed Airline Travel Rule

The U.S. Department of Transportation seeks public comments on a proposed rule to ensure airline passengers’ safe and dignified travel using wheelchairs. Interested parties can submit comments online, by mail or fax, or hand-delivered in Washington, DC. The deadline for submissions is May 13, 2024. 

Supporting Young Children with Autism – Best Practices, Accessing Resources

Hosted by the Autism Society of NC on Saturday, May 18, 2024, this in-person event at Pinnacle Church in Canton, NC, offers valuable insights and strategies for supporting young children with autism. Launch of Behavioral Health and Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Tailored Plans

Tailored Plans, a new kind of NC Medicaid Managed Care health plan, will be launched on July 1, 2024. These plans are designed for beneficiaries with specific health needs, these plans aim to provide comprehensive coverage and support. For more information, visit – medicaid.nc.gov/tailored-plans.
