The Raymond W. Biglow Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) Post 8062 held their regular monthly meeting on Saturday, April 16th, and hosted a reception for a recipient of the Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher of the Year award for the local Post.
VFW Post 8062 Commander Oliver Gause presented the Teacher of the Year for the middle school level to Pamela D. Bryant of Bladenboro Middle School at the conclusion of the business meeting. Jennifer W. Hair was the award recipient for the high school level. Mrs. Hair teaches at East Bladen High School and was unable to attend the reception; therefore, Commander Gause presented Mrs. Hair with her award during a follow up visit to East Bladen.
The VFW recognizes classroom primary, middle school, and high school teachers who teach citizenship education topics and promote America’s history and traditions. Mrs. Bryant and Mrs. Hair were nominated by their respective schools.
