Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #8062 sponsored the Elizabethtown Dixie Youth Dodger’s Baseball Team this season. But, they did not stop with sponsoring the team. This past Saturday the local VFW fed the Dodger’s team hamburgers and hot dogs with all the fixings.
The team of nine to ten-year-old little boys lined up for the fest.
The coaches of the team, Brad Walters, Dwayne Gause, and Michael Patrick expressed the their gratitude to the VFW for their sponsorship.
“We are very grateful for all they did,” Walters said.
The VFW currently has 27 members, according to Post Commander Dana Gill
“This is the first year we have sponsors the Dixie Youth team. We want to be more in the community.”
Commander Gill added, “We are trying to sponsors the Boy Scouts, some local teachers and students. We have also talked with the Town Manager to give awards to Elizabethtown Fire Department, EMS, and Police Department.
The VFW #8062 meets the third Thursday of every month at 7 pm at the VFW building located at 109 Hill Street in Elizabethtown.
