According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol’s report, the accident happened Thursday morning between Wilmington and Leland on U.S. 74/76. Hauser was wearing his seat belt. The cause of the wreck is not fully known, but alcohol and speed were not factors in the case. Hauser was pronounced dead at the scene.

A family friend, Tammy Fowler, published a GoFundMe page in honor of Hauser. In the tribute, Fowler states about Hauser, “His smile was contagious, and he had unlimited love and compassion for his family and friends. Over the next few weeks and months, his family could use our emotional and financial support.”

According to the obituary, a private service will be held due to the Covid-19, and a Celebration of Life will be held later.
