A rescue group is attempting to locate a horse in the Tar Heel. area that appears to have been mistreated.

The Leilani Mae Rescue Group has been in the area over the past 3 or 4 days and have seen the horse but unable to catch up with it.

Mackenzie Ake, who works in the Fayetteville area advised BladenOnline that the horse appears to have a logchain embedded in the neck and that volunteers are searching the area now.

Someone in the area spotted the horse and contacted the Leilani Mae Rescue Group at their Linden, NC location. Ake said the organization is a 501 (3)(c) non-profit organization with several locations across the United States..

If you see the horse, you are ask to call Ake at 910-308-5451 or contact Dr. Garrett at the Animal Hospital of Fayetteville, NC.

Ake said the horse would likely require surgery and anyone wanting to make a contribution could call her number.or contact the Fayetteville Animal Hospital.
