The White House Opioid Commission met recently and discussed health plans and the new Safe, Transparent, Opioid Prescribing (STOP) Initiative.

The STOP initiative measures how providers prescribe against the Centers Disease Control’s Guidelines for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain.

The CDC’s Guidelines are designed to promote the reduction of the unnecessary prescribing of opioids for pain.
