A Duke Energy employee was injured while working at Duke Energy’s solar farm near the DuPont Fayetteville Works plant on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred at 9:30 a.m.

Duke Energy Media Specialist Dave Scanzoni said, “A Duke Energy employee was injured by an electrical shock.”

Scanzoni said Duke Energy is performing an incident review to determine what happened and what steps can be taken in the future to prevent a similar occurrence.  Due to privacy reasons, Scanzoni said the company will not release the name of the employee.

Previous story: A worker at a solar farm in Bladen County was reported to have been injured on Wednesday morning.

The incident took place at Duke Energy’s Solar Farm located near the DuPont Fayetteville Works plant in Bladen County, said Bladen County Fire Marshal Ken Clark. The injured worker was a Duke Energy employee. Clark said the man was conscious, alert and talking to emergency personnel.

“He had minimal burns to both hands,” said Clark.

DuPont EMS and Bladen County EMS responded to the scene. The worker was airlifted from the scene to a nearby hospital.

The name of the injured worker was not available at press time.
